Top Ways To Untame Yourself

  1. Recognise that YOU are the answer – despite society and older generation ‘hand me downs’ being responsible for your conditioning and the limiting beliefs you hold about yourself, only you are the one that can do the work to change them to your advantage. Awareness of your belief systems and holding the intention of letting them go allows your mind and aspirations to rise.
  2. Reframe your internal beliefs – work out the root of the belief and then look at ways you can turn it round to suit and serve you better. Practice committing the new belief into your unconscious mind by repeating it as an affirmation before you go to sleep at night. Evidence shows that the brain’s ‘theta’ (deep relaxation) state is when you’re most primed for committing new information to your unconscious mind, which drives 95% of everything we do.
  3. Relieve the expectation – Swap the word ‘should’ for ‘could’. Should is laden with expectation, but ‘could’ opens up choice and allows for your own wants and needs.
  4. Reinstate your inner wisdom – Start observing your thoughts when faced with a decision. What is your go-to response mechanism? To think about the expectations of others? To think about how your decision will benefit others, or meet their approval? How about you change your first thought to ‘What COULD you do?’ then follow it with a pause and some deep breathing to connect in with your intuitive self. It is this deeper part of yourself that will help you to make choices based on your own inner wisdom and understanding – an accumulation from every lived experience you’ve ever had.
  5. Renounce your inner critic – She is almost always out to sabotage you. She is every story in your head that plays you as victim and at a disadvantage. She is NOT you. And she is not much of a friend. Observe her with curiosity, then swiftly override her and lean into the opposite action she was pushing for – which will almost certainly see you grow.
