What does the term self-love mean to you? Does it trigger feelings of disdain, despair, comfort, aspiration, or does it just make you want to switch off?  When we pay attention to the impact that language conveying a mindset, idea or behaviour has on us – we can use it to learn something about ourselves.  Negative feelings around a term indicates blocks to our inner growth and development.  Self-love is a term that those not used to practising it will wince at.  The wince happens regularly for women in my coaching sessions.  This issue of Wild Whispers highlights the internal beliefs many of us have grown up with around self-love. I explore how we can move towards re-framing our thoughts so that we embrace the idea of self-love and what it can do for us.

Curbing the Need to Control

In today’s world so many of us have developed an addictive and unconscious need for control. Although the need exists unconsciously, it manifests as anxiety through the strong desire to control surroundings and other people to keep a sense of order and regulation to suit us. We look to control the thoughts, feelings, behaviours, inputs and outcomes of others – which we have no control over in reality, and in doing so, we run three huge risks.  Find out what they are in the March edition of Wild Whispers, and learn 5 ways to release control of others and regain self-control. Plus get your special Mother’s Day discount for an Escape & Explore Session with me to rediscover your own needs and wants – and be guided in how to meet them.

It’s easy to get carried away with body goals at this time of year, yet good health goes so far beyond physical fitness. Holistic health is about balancing the needs of your body, heart, mind and soul.

This month I touch upon three key ‘allies’ to a sustainable healthy lifestyle from my own experience and I share three top tips on being consistent in your approach to ‘whole-self’ fitness, bringing all pillars of wellness in to balance through a holistic approach guided by self-love, intention and commitment.

January brings new beginnings and a fresh outlook – a chance to prioritise what really matters to you, under the layers of what you see as mattering to everyone else.  So dig deep this year, dream your own dreams, set your goals, summon your self-belief, activate your self-compassion, face your fears, remember that discomfort is the master key to growth – and go conquer!

This edition of Wild Whispers looks at how to create a vision for yourself and build your internal support system to ensure you are primed for everything 2024 brings.

While the grandeur of elaborate celebrations is enticing, there is immense beauty in simplicity. Focusing on the essence of the season, and relishing the moments spent with your loved ones rather than getting lost in the pursuit of a picture-perfect holiday, might just feel a lot closer to perfect.  I hope this edition of Wild Whispers inspires you to feel motivated and productive as we move head-on into this busy time of year, but also that it supports you in giving yourself permission to slow down, and encourages you to cultivate a serene oasis that can serve as a grounding force, amid the bustling excitement of the holiday season.

Preventing rising overwhelm and anxiety means being compassionate with ourselves. To do that we need to understand what it really is to be self-loving. What it looks like to be our own best friend. What it means to fill our own cup. And once we understand and start to actively practice self-love and compassion, we take ourselves beyond simply coping. We begin to thrive. So if you’re familiar with that saying that you need to be ready and willing to put your own oxygen mask on before others, but are not quite believing in that yet, I hope to convince you in this issue of Wild Whispers, that not only is it ok. It’s vital.

How much of your life is guided by shoulds and shouldn’ts? How much of your same old safe thinking is just leading to the same old safe results? In this edition, I prompt you to expose your ‘unconscious limiting beliefs’ – your internal beliefs that have moulded and shaped you since you were small – and to see how they are limiting your power and potential now. I also introduce the 5 top ways to untame yourself and get back in touch with your inner wild.

Life is full of cycles and all good things come to an end – making way for more good things. But when we become time ‘poor’ and feel like we’re rushing through everything, how much of what we are doing is passing by without us really feeling it? Really appreciating it? In this month’s edition of Wild Whispers I reconsider my top priority of ‘getting stuff done’ and revisit a ‘loves’ list from 10 years ago and reflect on how I could have honoured myself more.

Last month brought me new challenges and I share how I was told I needed to ‘get over myself’ to be able to step more fully into my personal power! You’ll discover ways that you can step up and stand in your power at work, and I also reflect on why it’s good to get things wrong and how learning to accept uncertainty is an important part of growth and success – whatever that may look like to you.  I hope you’ll enjoy it! The need to achieve perfect is something that affects an overwhelming number of us – and society just seems to keep on instilling and reinforcing the belief that we can and should be. It’s no wonder that anxiety and depression are on the rise when we are constantly not feeling enough as we are. This edition of WW addresses how we can change our mindset around what perfect is and why we want it – when it doesn’t even exist! When it will never be an eventuality for us. It was also my opportunity to help you focus on progress as oppose to perfection – to embrace the journey, take off your mask, and to just show up as you.

What is burnout and what could it mean for you? How can you turn the symptoms of impending burnout round so you start to burn brightly and constructively again? If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from my own journey – and from all my hardworking, passionate clients, we are trying to do too much. Overwhelm, anxiety and depression are on the rise and the need to nurture our mental and emotional wellbeing has never been so transparent. Read this edition of WW if you want to better understand why knowing and honouring yourself and your needs is the ultimate way to prevent burnout and breakdown.

Mindful in May

This month’s focus is on being mindful. Slowing down to reflect on the present moment and how you are feeling. Considering how your thoughts and behaviours are either contributing to good health and wellness – or depleting you? Finding a balance of being motivated and determined enough to work towards goals, but to also be self-compassionate enough with yourself to pick yourself up and honour your feelings when things don’t go to plan. Recognising and actively celebrating all your achievements, both big and small – and to practise gratitude for all the things you value in your life.

Lost To The Speed Of Life

The first quarter of 2023 is behind us and life is continuing to move so damn fast. But when did you last stop and look around? This month’s love letter will help you to distinguish between your subconscious ‘habit’ self and your more conscious ‘inner self’ – the latter being the kinder, wiser and truer of the two. And perhaps the most exciting thing to come out of last month is my new self-discovery workbook ‘Your One True Self’ (details inside) which will inspire you to get to know that inner version of you a whole lot better!

We all have a unique blend of qualities. We also have a unique need for blended energy in our lives. In this edition of Wild Whispers I reflect on my star-sign hybrid and how it had me trying to fit under one definition or the other. I consider the tug of masculine and feminine energy and how each of us have an ideal blend that will work for us in our quest for work-life harmony. And I share my thoughts and latest article on the vital connection between coaching and emotional wellbeing.

With a long, cold January closing and a super short February about to begin, I reflect on how it feels coming out of the cold both physically and metaphorically! I talk about how realigning myself with my values in my new community role has healed the overwhelm and emotional burnout experienced in my last job and introduce my free webinar on helping midlife women to create the change they need! PLUS a second focus for this month’s edition of Wild Whispers is self-acknowledgement and celebration. A bumper edition with a whole lot of love.

It’s so common that our New Year’s resolutions are driven by how fed up we are with ourselves and our longing for change. In this edition of Wild Whispers, I reflect on why it’s more important to feel like the real you than to try to totally reinvent yourself and how you do things. You’ll find 10 intrinsic goals to inspire you including ‘feeling more free’ and I touch on the importance of authenticity coaching in mental and emotional wellbeing.  All in this first issue of 2023!

As 2022 comes to a close, I reflect on the endings and new beginnings this year has brought, and how my Grandmother passing brought me both great grief and gratitude all in one go. I share my thoughts on how to be your own best friend as well as how to experience true Christmas spirit, let go of perfectionism and embrace all the season brings, with gladness.
